By degree Sedimentary rock is formed one grain at a time. One tiny granule of mineral, one speck of sand, and then a pebble. Each addition adds to the mass of stone. Then one day the growth stops, and the trend reverses. The bulk starts to shrink through erosion. Those individual constituent grains are lost. The change is no longer cumulative - the change is now subtractive. Change continues Nothing stays the same. Change is obligatory, and unavoidable. There is no such thing as equilibrium or homeostasis. Just like our own lives - one thing we can guarantee is that everything will change - there has to be balance, but change is imposed. Good or bad makes no difference.
